PCI support is broken on vendor kernel (6.1.xx) on versions higher then 24.8.1. Use this version and freeze kernel (armbian-config -> system) prior to updating OS. PCI works on other Rockchip 3588 devices, while fixing this on all represent expensive technical challenge which we will be able to proceed once your donations for entire project reaches at least 1000 USD per month. With Orangepi devices we have extremely high negative support budget. Alternative operating systems that relies on our work face the same problem. We appreciate for your understanding.
4K Video acceleration within Chromium works only in Jammy / Noble Gnome images with kernel 6.1.y
- If you cannot boot Armbian from SD card, you need to erase SPI bootloader from stock OS
- If you are having a Orange Pi 5B variant, replace
fdtfile=rockchip/rk3588s-orangepi-5.dtbin /boot/armbianEnv.txt withfdtfile=rockchip/rk3588s-orangepi-5b.dtb
Enable AP6275P Wireless Module on Orange Pi 5:
Enable orangepi-5-ap6275p overlay from Hardware menu of armbian-config and reboot.
In order to run Kodi (sudo apt install kodi) with HW acceleration, you have to run kodi under gbm or wayland.
Armbian 24.8.1 Noble Gnome test report:
- Flashed to SD card with USB imager
- Boot ok, from sdcard and NVME
- HDMI is ok, HDMI audio works
- USB2 ports are ok
- Gigabit Etherner is ok, troughput ~940Mbit/s
- 4K video playback works in Chromium (accelerated)
- Reboot and shutdown work as intended
